ProtectMyTask provides PDF protection and AI detection services, including:

• Embedding invisible watermarks in PDF documents to detect AI-generated responses
• Scanning text responses to identify potential AI generation based on watermark detection
• Subscription-based access to protection and scanning features
• API services for integration (when available)

3. User Accounts and Registration

To access certain features of our Service, you must register for an account through our authentication provider, Clerk. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• Maintain and promptly update your account information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

4. Subscription Plans and Payments

4.1 Subscription Terms

We offer various subscription plans with different usage limits for PDF protections and scans per month. Subscription fees are processed through Polar.sh, our payment processor.

4.2 Free Trial

New users may be eligible for a free trial period. After the trial expires, you will be charged the applicable subscription fee unless you cancel.

4.3 Billing and Payments

• Subscription fees are billed monthly in advance
• All fees are non-refundable except as required by law
• We may change our prices with 30 days' notice
• Failure to pay may result in service suspension or termination

4.4 Usage Limits

Each subscription plan includes specific monthly limits for PDF protections and scans. Exceeding these limits may result in service restrictions until the next billing cycle.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe upon intellectual property rights of others
• Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful code
• Attempt to circumvent service limitations or security measures
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our watermarking methods
• Resell, redistribute, or create derivative services without permission
• Use the service for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose
• Process PDFs containing illegal, harmful, or offensive content

6. Content and Intellectual Property

6.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of any PDFs or content you upload to our Service. By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and modify your content solely for the purpose of providing our Service.

6.2 Our Intellectual Property

The Service, including our watermarking technology, detection algorithms, and all related intellectual property, remains our exclusive property. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works based on our technology.

7. Service Availability and Modifications

We strive to maintain high service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to:

• Modify or discontinue the Service with reasonable notice
• Perform maintenance that may temporarily affect service availability
• Update our features, pricing, or terms with appropriate notice

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

9. Disclaimers

While we strive for accuracy, our AI detection service is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

• 100% accuracy in AI detection
• Compatibility with all PDF formats or versions
• That our watermarking method is undetectable by all future technologies
• Continuous availability of the Service

10. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. You may cancel your subscription through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, though these Terms will remain in effect for matters occurring before termination.

11. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which also governs your use of the Service, to understand our practices.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be interpreted and governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where ProtectMyTask is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except for claims that may be brought in small claims court.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
